This two-day wānanga explores executive function through a strengths-based, kaupapa Māori lens, grounded in Te Whare Tapa Whā. Together, we unpack behaviour as communication and view “challenges” as signals of lagging skills. Through practical tools, insights from rangatahi, and collaborative planning, you will build your confidence to notice, recognise, and respond with intention. You will leave with clear, practical ways to explicitly teach and proactively support ākonga as they develop their executive function skills, strengthening manaakitanga and a sense of belonging for all learners.

TRAVEL REQUEST CLOSED This two-day course is designed to strengthen kaiako understanding of the NCEA co-requisite requirements for Te Reo Matatini and for Pāngarau, including the implications for programme development. Whilst the course is particularly suitable for kaiako teaching year 7-10 students, it is still appropriate for kaiako teaching students leading up to year 7 and beyond year 10. This course is a repeat of the one held earlier in the year.

Te Ara Whakatere – Navigating Leadership, is a transformative leadership wānanga designed for aspiring Māori education leaders. Grounded in the ancestral metaphor of voyaging and navigation, the programme equips participants to lead with courage, moral clarity, cultural integrity, and intuitive intelligence in complex educational environments. Te Ara Whakatere is made up of three stand-alone 2-day workshops. Kaiako can participate in all three workshops or attend individual workshops. In this workshop, through the navigation elements of waka and moana, kaiako explore identity, whakapapa and leadership origins, as well navigating systems and complexity.
